Bone gives breasts a lot of flavors, and this easy chicken breasts with a bone recipe with chopped garlic, rosemary, and basil are so easy to make and so flavorful, you can easily pair it with many different side dishes and make a whole new meal every time.

Give the breasts a few minutes to marinate in the garlic and herbs, and stick them in the oven. They cook until golden brown with crispy skin and juicy inside!

BAKED CHICKEN BREAST INGREDIENTS;

  • Bone-in chicken breast: bone and skin in chicken breasts bake to crispy perfection, full of flavor, and retain their moisture inside. This is my favorite way to eat chicken breast.
  • Garlic: marinating the chicken in garlic gives it a great flavor boost. Don’t be afraid to use it.
  • Extra virgin olive oil: a good rub with olive oil gives the chicken breasts a bit of help to make that skin extra crispy.
  • Rosemary: the perfect herb to make the roast chicken super flavorful. Robust and earthy.
  • Basil: aromatic and with a hint of a “minty” flavor, basil makes the perfect companion for rosemary. Very complimentary.
  • Sea salt: coarse sea salt is so much better than refined salt for roasting! Just flavorwise, you will notice the difference.
  • Cracked black pepper: also, please always try to use freshly cracked black pepper. It retains its flavor until you crack it, so you use it to its full potential.

HOW TO MAKE BAKED CHICKEN BREAST:

  1. In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic with the extra virgin olive oil, rosemary, basil, salt, and cracked pepper.
  2. Rub the chicken breasts with this mixture and refrigerate covered for 45 minutes.
  3. preheat oven to 375F.
  4. Place the chicken breasts in a baking dish and bake from 45 to 60 mins depending on the size of the breasts, until the juices run clear or a meat thermometer reads 165F.

SHOULD I COVER THE CHICKEN BREASTS WHEN BAKING IN THE OVEN?

No. You should bake your chicken uncovered. Unless you see it getting too dark and it is not fully cooked inside, then you should cover it with foil until it is fully cooked inside. I almost never have to cover my chicken while baking.

FREEZE BAKED CHICKEN BREASTS;

You certainly can. Just make sure to let them cool and cover them very well with plastic wrap and foil before freezing.

You can also store them in a freezer bag, but I would first wrap them in plastic just to make sure they are well protected from the cold and won’t dry out.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH BAKED CHICKEN BREASTS?

This is the beauty of this dish. You can serve anything with them. Choose a carb. Rice, , or pasta. Any recipe using these carbs is great with baked chicken breasts.

Also, choose a veggie. Any steamed veggie dish, pan-fried veggies, or any salad would go great with these baked breasts.

VARIATIONS ON OVEN-BAKED SPLIT CHICKEN BREASTS;

Changing the herbs gives it a different flavor.

  • Make them Mexican: add cumin and chili powder
  • Make them Indian: rub them in garam masala or tandoori masala
  • Make them Italian: use oregano, basil, and marjoram
  • Make them Asian: mix a bit of sesame oil with garlic and chili oil
