Is there anything you can’t cook in the Ninja Foodi or in egg bite molds??? I mean there might be….I just haven’t figured out what that is yet!

Who doesn’t love eating churros dipped in delicious sauces at fairs throughout the summer? Well, I have good news for you! Now you can have the sugary cinnamony goodness all year round. And…you don’t even have to leave your house to get it! You can make your very own version of a churro from the comfort of your own home just by using your Ninja Foodi.

In just a matter of minutes, you can be eating warm, sugary churro bites. I love that you can be so creative with dipping sauces too! From chocolate to strawberry to marshmallow!! You just can’t go wrong.

I made these on a whim and left them on the counter and my VERY picky 12 year old daughter snuck in and started eating them….all of them lol. She has requested that I make these again and again.

Tips for making this recipe:

  1. Be sure that you secure the foil on top of the egg bite molds tightly. If it is too loose, the churro bites might start to overflow a bit. If you stack 2 molds on top of each other, the tight foil will prevent them from settling into each other.
  2. Don’t overfill the egg bite molds. Only fill 75% of the way full, even if you have extra mix. If you overfill them, the churro bites will rise and overflow the mold.
  3. Use a sling or make one. If you put the egg molds right on top of the trivet you will have a heck of a time getting them out of the Ninja Foodi.
  4. Don’t let the churro bites cool too much before you roll them in the brown sugar. The warmer the churro bites are, the more the brown sugar will start to melt and turn to delicious goodness!!
  5. Do yourself a favor and buy dark chocolate sauce. I bough this on a whim and OMG was I happy that I did! I’m not going to lie, I found myself eating spoonfuls (yes spoonfuls) of the dark chocolate goodness! It is that good! (Smucker’s did not pay me to say that! It’s just that good!!!)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the box of cake mix together with ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, 2 eggs, ¾ cups of brown sugar mix packet (included in the box of cake mix) and 1 cup of buttermilk. Mix until evenly combined.
  2. You will need 2 egg bites molds for this recipe. Lightly spray your egg bites molds with non-stick cooking spray and pour cake mixture into molds. Fill each mold up 75% of the way.
  3. Cover filled egg molds tightly with foil or with the silicone cover that came with the egg bites mold.
  4. Place your trivet into Ninja Foodi and pour in 1.5 cups of water.
  5. If you have a sling, place your egg bite molds onto the sling and lower into Ninja Foodi on top of trivet. If you don’t have a sling, you can make one out of foil by taking approximately 18 inches of foil and folding in lengthwise in half and then in half again. You will end up with a 3 inch strip of foil. Simply lay the strip on your counter and then place the egg bite molds on top of the foil (in the middle) and then carefully lift the foil from the ends. The foil acts as a “sling” and will make it MUCH easier to get the egg molds in and out of the Ninja Foodi.
  6. Since you have 2 egg molds filled with cake mix, you will need to stack them on top of each other. Be sure that your foil cover is tight enough to support the egg mold that will sit on top of it. Rotating the top egg mold just slightly will ensure that the molds do not go into one another.
  7. Close the Ninja Foodi pressure cook lid and move the valve to the “seal” position.
  8. Cook on pressure cook, high pressure for 12 minutes.
  9. Once the timer beeps, naturally release all pressure
  10. Open Ninja Foodi lid and lift out your egg molds with the sling.
  11. Remove foil and cool for 5 minutes
  12. Place a plate on top of the egg molds and flip the molds over. Gently press on each of the egg molds and push out the churro bites.
  13. Roll the warm churro bites in 4 tablespoons of brown sugar (I found that a bowl works best for this part).
  14. Mix ½ teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of sugar together.
  15. Plate churro bites and then sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar mixture on top. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

Churro Bites- Ninja Foodi Recipe (17)
Sounds great! However, I do not have the pressure cooker ninja foodi. I have the 5 in 1 model. Is it possible to make churros in the foodi that I have? Is the pressure cooker foodi the only one that can be used? I am trying to avoid frying the churros in oil.
    Thanks.

Hi Linda! The recipe for the churros is a pressure cooker recipe. I have not tried to cook them in the grill yet. I would think you could “bake” them but I’m not sure about the time or temp or how they would turn out.
