Are you new to Cricut? With so many fun projects to try, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed at first. Don’t worry – we’ve rounded up some insanely cute Cricut projects for beginners to help you get started with this craft.

1. Shadow Box with Layered Paper
Take advantage of Cricut’s precision cutting by creating a cute shadow box with layered paper designs. These make great gifts, but they’re also fun pieces of wall art that you can make for your home.

You’ll need a shadow box and cardstock for this kind of project. Astrobrights is a great option. You can grab a pack of their colored 65 lb. paper on Amazon.
2. T-Shirts
Have you ever wanted to make your own custom t-shirts? With a Cricut and some iron-on vinyl, you can. Print out your design, iron it onto a plain t-shirt and enjoy! It really is that simple.

3. DIY Pantry Labels
Pantry labels are a quick, easy and fun project for Cricut. If you’re reorganizing your pantry or doing a refresh, labels will make it so much easier to find what you need. And you don’t need to spend a fortune on pre-made labels. Just choose a font you love and get to work making your own decals for your pantry staples, like flour, sugar, baking soda and more.
You can just use text for your labels, but if you want to get fancy, we have a label frames bundle in our shop that would be perfect for a project like this one.
4. Greeting Cards
When you get started with Cricut, one of the first projects you’ll make is a greeting card. It’s a simple and fun project that gives you so much creative freedom.
With some pretty cardstock and your Cricut machine, you can create greeting cards for every occasion, including:
- Mother’s Day
- Birthdays
- The holidays
- Father’s Day
- Valentine’s Day (we have a fun Valentine’s Day vector cut file in our shop)
To make your cards special, choose fun cardstock that will really make your designs pop.
5. Custom Candle Jars
If you’re into making candles, you can create your own customized jars with your own design. You can add a quote or unique clipart to make your candles pretty, quirky or witty.
Grab one of the SVG designs from our shop and use them to make a customized candle with vinyl and transfer tape.
Whether you make candles as a hobby or as part of your business, customized labels will take your craft to the next level.
6. Garden Markers
Are you a fan of gardening? Why not use your Cricut to make your own garden markers? If you use acrylic sheets, these markers will last for multiple seasons, allowing you to get the most out of your project.
Along with the usual Cricut supplies, you’ll need the following for this project:
- Acrylic sheets
- Smart Vinyl is Permanent, so they can be used outdoors
Choose a fun font or even add a little graphic to your markers to make them truly yours.

7. Stickers and Magnets
Cricut is great for creating stickers and magnets. These are beginner-friendly projects that only require a few supplies, like:
- Magnetic paper or sticker paper
- Printable vinyl
- A printer
You can add your stickers to whatever you want or give your custom magnets away as gifts. Kids love stickers, so this can also be a fun project for the little ones to participate in. Have them create their own designs, and transform them into stickers or magnets.
8. Custom Cosmetic Bag
Customized cosmetic bags are perfect Cricut projects for beginners. They’re quick and easy to make, and you’ll make something that you’ll use every day. Plus, they’re great gifts for friends, family or bridesmaids.
Heat transfer vinyl makes it easy to add your design to your bag.

Vinyl decals are so versatile, and you can use your Cricut to create them in just a few simple steps. Why spend a fortune on a fancy phone case when you can make your own using the design you want or create?
You can add cute or inspirational quotes and graphics to your design. The most important thing is to make sure that your design is small enough to fit on your phone case.
Custom phone cases make great gifts, but this is also a fun craft to try if you like to change out your phone case often.
10. Fun Planner Notebook
Planner notebooks are also great projects for beginners because they’re so simple. Just print your design on adhesive vinyl and add it to your notebook.
Choose a solid, plain notebook for this project and try to avoid using a journal with a textured cover. The vinyl won’t stick as well to a textured or glittered surface.

11. Personalized Etched Tumblers
A customized tumbler is another fun project for Cricut newbies. You can use permanent adhesive vinyl for a project like this, but if you want to kick the design up a notch, you can create an etched design with Citristrip paint stripper.
Essentially, you’ll use your Cricut design as a stencil to remove the tumbler’s paint and make the design look etched into the product.
Here’s what else you’ll need for this project:
- Oracal 651 vinyl
- Painter’s tape
- Transfer tape
- Scraper
You can find lots of fun SVG files in our shop for your tumbler design. Powder coated tumblers tend to work best for this kind of project.
12. Insanely Cute Clipboards
Custom clipboards are fun Cricut projects for beginners, and they’re so useful for teachers, office workers and anyone else who takes organization seriously.
What’s great about this project is that it’s so easy. You’ll need:
- SVG files (we have some great quotes and designs in our shop)
- Vinyl
- Transfer tape
- Clipboard
- Polycrylic or Mod Podge
Just print the design on the vinyl, use your weeding tool to remove any excess material, and use transfer tape to transfer your design to the clipboard. Seal your design with either Polycrylic or Mod Podge and enjoy.
13. Acrylic Wall Calendar
Want a unique way to keep track of your schedule and to-do list? Use your Cricut to create a wall calendar and to-do list.
First, you’ll need an acrylic dry erase board. Then, you can use your Cricut to print a calendar and to-do list that you can transfer to your board. All that’s left to do is get a set of dry erase markers and a whiteboard eraser.
Each month can be customized, so you can add your tasks and schedule without needing to print out new calendars.
14. Cord Organizers
Here’s a fun project that will create a useful item with your Cricut – cord organizers. For this project, you’ll use your machine to cut out a unique shape for your organizer. Then, you can add a string or a snap button to hold the organizer together.
You can use whatever material you like, but faux leather works really well and can stand up to heavy use.
If you want, you can add a monogram or another design, but It’s not necessary.

15. Gift Tags
Here’s another really simple and fun project for beginners: gift tags. They’re great for the holidays because you can create your own custom design to make your gifts really special.

Choose colors and designs that will complement the color of your machine. You can use a sticker or transfer paper to transfer the design straight to your laptop.
